Pole and aerial training and the levels you might pass through while you are with any given studio can differ quite substantially. Add to that social media and especially Instagram, it can quickly become apparent that we are all feeling a bit confused about what is beginner, improver, intermediate, advanced and elite level.
Here at Momentum Pole & Aerial, we enjoy having a full and comprehensive beginner syllabus for pole fit, aerial hoop and aerial fabric. The foundations are undoubtedly important in paving the way for your future pole and aerial success, and they should be flexible (no pun intended) and allow you to tailor the fundamentals to what feels best for you! Hence progressions and variations are always valid.
Once we move on to improver, intermediate and advanced, we move away from a set syllabus and instead work with 10-15 core moves for each level. As yes you guessed it, we’re all a bit different, and our individual strengths, weaknesses and preferences will become more apparent the higher we move up the progression curve. So rather than trying to force every body (literally) into a box, we like making the box a bit bigger, and dropping one side of it so to speak!
Listen in as we discuss the pros and cons or working with a syllabus and why core moves instead of a three page list of things to tick off might be the future of sustainable and long term pole and aerial training.
