Pole and Aerial Progression: What Counts as a Win

If you have been training pole or aerial for a little while, you will have noticed that you don’t have as many frequent wins anymore once you are a few years into the game.
This is entirely normal as the pole/aerial progression curve has a very steep incline when we first start, and then gradually flattens off. The curve remains at an upward trajectory as long as we do pole/aerial and it is always climbing, only at a more gradual speed the longer we are training.
The reason for this is the fact that newbie gains are real in any sport, and when we start off with something new, progress is lurking at every corner.
And then we are a few months or years in and there aren’t that many corners anymore 😉
Cue, the power of reframing! If we take a look at WHAT we class as a win in our training, we have the power to enjoy it more, especially when surface-level progress à la 18 new moves nailed in one class, 3 minute Russian hardstyle choreo spotlessly executed in week 1, new dynamic hoop sequence with that scary split at the end entirely done and dusted in your Wednesday class last week, sounds a bit unlikely at the moment.
Listen to this episode to find out what other wins shall be waiting for you as you keep climbing the pole and aerial mountain, because if you are looking for them, there are still plenty of corners that each boost a win or two!
