Did you know that impostery thoughts and comparison often go hand in hand?
Both can be pretty sucky and really affect our self esteem and enjoyment of classes, leaving us pretty deflated and at times also feeling really lonely. It always feels like everyone else is progressing pretty nicely, enjoying themselves and always looking so effortless and cool and damn, I just feel like I don’t really belong in this class because I suck so bad in comparison to everyone else.
The reality is that most people who do pole or aerial training, at some point or another, do feel like an imposter or end up comparing themselves in an unhelpful manner. Reality is, our brains love to compare and it’s not something we can really switch off that easily.
However what we absolutely can do, is know who is more prone to impostery thoughts, and what to do about them when they hit.
