Planning a Hen? Here’s why Pole wants to be on your List of Activities!
Pole Dancing for your Hen Do in Gloucestershire
There is no denying that pole dance is everywhere, and it is the next big thing for hen dos!
You may have seen some bits on social media, or one of the girls in the office has chatted about going on a hen do where everyone tried pole dancing. Maybe you even know someone who does pole as a sport every week! Or you are the poler and you’d love love love if the people in your life also got a taste for the wonderful world of pole, and including it in the hen do you are organising seems like the best idea ever!
Why Pole is an Epic Choice for a Hen Do
Not surprising that pole dance as a popular choice for hen do activities is gaining traction! This sport is unique in combining strength, body confidence, sensuality, a light-hearted atmosphere, and second to none ice breaker for groups without being awkward or stifling. Often, one of the biggest fears of a hen party organiser is how the group will gel when planning activities, and being conscious of the fact that a lot of people are meeting each other for the very first time. A pole class can quickly fast-forward past the tricky social element and instil a sense of community, togetherness, freedom and lots of laugher from the get go!
Additionally, pole dancing for a hen do is incredibly versatile, it can appeal to all interests and abilities in your group:
Those who want to get a sweat on, can!
Those who want to pose for a few cute photos without getting out of breath, can!
Those who want to feel sensual and sexy, can!
Everyone in the group can work entirely at their own pace. And anyone who does not fancy taking part shall be chief-hype-person and photographer/videographer extraordinaire! This way, everybody is involved in the community and group, even when they cannot or choose not to physically take part themselves. As we know with so many sports, often spectating is just as exhilarating as taking part!
At times, the thought of doing a pole class on a hen do may make some people fear about having to rock up in shorts and crop top for a super intense and sexy workout. And you can definitely do that if that’s what your group is looking for, but the reality is that a pole dance class for a hen do can be angled towards the social and fun aspect, rather than the hardcore workout or super sexy dancey side.
Pole is fancy-dress-friendly too, so if your hen bash has a theme, you can absolutely complete a pole dance hen do in a variety of costumes. As long as the clothing isn’t too restrictive, it provides comfortable and free movement, then anything goes! It is indeed possible to complete a pole dance hen session in full length leggings and t-shirt, so no shorts and crop tops required for anyone who does not feel comfortable to wear them. The only aspect your host studio may be stricter on is jewellery, as rings, bracelets and necklaces can lead to injuries when getting stuck mid-spin or mid-pose and also scratch the poles.
What to Expect
Now that we’ve got all the practicalities out the way and we’ve convinced you that everyone in your group will have an epic laugh and enjoy the session, let’s talk about what to expect in a pole dance hen do sesh!
As it is an exercise activity, you and your group will have to fill in some paperwork as you would with any physical activity. This may be electronically in the lead up to the event, or on arrival. Your host studio may have some gifts, decorations, refreshments or even hen party kits ready to get stuck into on arrival.
Most pole dance hen dos last 60-90 minutes including a warm up, the main bulk of the session and a cool down with time for group photos at the end. As a very general rule, your group will complete a warm up activity which may comprise of some mobilisation routines, or a few games before diving into the main element of the session: poses, holds and spins on the pole!
Depending on your party package, your trainer may work on a short routine with you – doing a sassy pole choreography to a song that brings back some fun memories or is special treat for the bride-to-be can be super fun here! Other options may involve games on the pole with little prizes up for grabs, and fun doubles poses that look mega impressive in photos.
Your host studio will discuss the content options of their hen party packages with you beforehand. Most providers aim to ensure you get the bespoke experience you desire, after all we want to create lasting and fun memories for all involved and be part of an unforgettable day for the bride-to-be 🙂
