A Gravity-Defying Twist on Hen Do Activities: Aerial Circus

Aerial Circus Arts for your Cotswolds Hen Do

Organising a hen weekend can quickly become overwhelming – after all, the bride-to-be has entrusted us with one of the most memorable experiences of her life and we want to do her proud and give her the best time with her closest people!

If you are looking for something a little different, an activity that can be both adrenaline-filled and hilarious, is great for both the introverts and extroverts, will provide talking points for the rest of the weekend and work an absolute treat as an icebreaker to kickstart the group, aerial arts is THE next big thing!

As aerial acrobatics gains more and more momentum (sorry pun very much intended 😄) as a recreational sport for adults, it has hugely grown in popularity as a group activity for special occasions such as hen dos. Despite The Greatest Showman and Cirque du Soleil vibes, an aerial arts sesh for your hen do is suitable for everyone in your group, as long as they are happy to give things a good go. Zero experience is required to learn to make stunning poses off the ground and fly high!

As aerial arts is so versatile, sessions can be catered to all abilities in your group – and we really do mean all! Even anyone who chooses not to take part will be included in the session as chief-hype-person, encouragement-shouter and group photographer and videographer extraordinaire. Support from the sidelines makes all the difference and spectating in a sport can be just as exhilarating as playing it!

Aerial circus classes for hen dos are also fancy-dress-friendly, so if the hen you are organising has a themed outfit, all is well as long as you can move freely. If you have a theme, certainly let the host studio know at the time of booking your aerial arts session! Your trainer may well be able to work the theme into the poses and holds taught in the session, and even teach a routine inspired by your theme or a song that means a lot to the bride-to-be!

What is involved in an aerial circus session for a hen party?

Safety first! When you arrive, you will find crash mats underneath the aerial circus apparatus so the session will be barefoot or in socks. Plus you and your group will have to fill in some paperwork as you would with any physical activity. This may be electronically in the lead up to the event, or on arrival. Your host studio may have some gifts, decorations, refreshments or even hen party kits ready to get stuck into on arrival.

Aerial circus classes can involve a range of cool equipment, such as aerial hoops ( a steel circle suspended from the ceiling), aerial fabrics (two silk ribbons hanging from the ceiling), trapeze and more! Your host studio will check with you beforehand if you have a preference on equipment, or even do a class on a range of different pieces of kit.
Most aerial circus hen sessions last between 60-90 minutes and involve a warm up, the main bulk of the session learning poses, holds and routines on the equipment with ample time for photos and videos, and a cool down.

Depending on your host studio party package, there may be games with prizes up for grabs, perhaps some partner poses and balances or a group choreography! The studio you are booking with will be able to offer you more details on the session content and work with you on preferences and requests.

Organising a Hen in Gloucestershire?

If you are local to Gloucester and Cheltenham, or you are organising a hen do in the Cotswolds, Momentum Pole & Aerial Studios provide a range of party packages for you. We offer aerial arts and pole dance (read more about these here) hen dos, and can even combine a morning of pole dance followed by brunch and mimosas at Tres Café at our Cheltenham Pole Studio!

We are incredibly lucky to be situated in the heart of Gloucester city and Cheltenham town centres, allowing you to dive into local attractions, bars and restaurants straight after your aerial arts class for that well deserved drink, afternoon tea or spot of lunch. Firm favourites in Gloucester are the eateries around the Quays and Food Dock, all just a short walk away. Plus the historic docks provide an epic background for photos post aerial arts class!
