All of these classes are cool for you if you have ZERO experience!
You can mix and match disciplines with your taster pass, or attend a few classes in the same discipline – you are fully in charge of the sessions you want to book. You can do up to one class almost every day, or do several in one evening, or treat yourself to three in total, entirely up to you and we want you to use your taster membership in the way that works best for you 🙂
So grab your fave leggings or joggers, bring some water and come and hang out with us!
Is This Sort of Training Right for Me?
We know what you think:
But will I be able to do anything?
Can I trust the equipment?
Will people laugh at me?
But I have no experience?
We will go as far as saying that we will GUARANTEE that you are going to surprise yourself with all the stuff you’ll breeze through in your first few classes. Pole and Aerial Arts classes are for everyBODY who is looking for a rewarding and uplifting way of working out that yes, definitely is tough at times but is it worth it! Every time, all the time! There are no prerequisites, when we say you need zero experience to start, we do mean it literally: zero experience necessary to start your road to becoming a total badass.
All our equipment can in fact hold a car, people will fire you on and encourage you throughout, AND we all started somewhere so every person in the room knows exactly what you are going through. Yes really!
Our ethos is that you will start where, when and how you start and progress from there at your own pace. Our beginner sessions come with the support of a TA coach alongside the instructor so there is always someone to chat to for guidance and support in class!
Pole and aerial arts are one of those where you are über-nervous beforehand, but once you get going, all that pent up energy gets released, you start class, you laugh, you’ll feel proud and you’ll be super pumped and happy you gave it a go afterwards!

Let’s do some Qs and As
What do I wear/bring?
Any gym, dance, yoga, general exercise clothing you feel comfy in and can move freely in. Our pole classes are in socks or barefoot, and please wear socks for aerial arts. Leggings are totally cool for your first pole sesh, and please ensure you wear full length or 3/4 bottoms for aerial arts.
Bring water and then you’re good to go!
We highly recommend downloading the Momentum Pole & Aerial app so you have all info, tips and encouragement at your fingertips:
How much is the taster class pass?
Your membership to book up to 8 classes in 14 days is £39.
Do I have to book right away?
Your taster membership will activate on the date of the first class you book as part of the package. So you can buy it now, and start using it next week. You then have 14 days in total, including the day of the first class, to book any additional sessions.
Do I have to attend a class every day?
Nope. You can flexibly attend up to 8 classes in your 14 day membership period. You can attend anything from 1 up to 8 classes, although we recommend aiming for a minimum of 3 sessions to get your money’s worth! You can mix and match the days you come to the studio and even do several classes in the same day!
Can I get changed?
Yes all venues have changing facilities.
What about parking and finding the studio?
See all of our venues here where you will find detailed descriptions on parking, venue addresses and access.
What happens in class and when I get to the studio?
Your teacher will know it’s your first sesh and come over and say hi and have a lil chat. We then warm up altogether before the teacher and TA coach guide you through our beginner plan, i.e. how to spin and hold yourself on the pole, get on a silk and in a hoop. You’ll then be making gorgeous shapes and short combinations! Plenty of rest in between goes and don’t forget to bring your phone as you will want to take photos of the cool stuff you’ll be doing. We then cool down together before we leave you to enjoy the post-class buzz on the way home and check in with you via email on what happens next.
How tough of a sesh is it?
It is totally normal to feel sore the day (or two) after your first class as the workout is actually a lot more than what it feels like while you’re doing it (bonus if you ask us lol). Sometimes, there may also be some bruising or mildly sore hands from gripping the pole, hoop or silks. Again, totally normal and this stuff will be much less intense over time.
Is there an age limit?
Nope! Over 18s for our heels pole classes, and all others start at 16 with parental consent. We have polers and aerialists in their 50s and 60s who started while in their 50s and 60s.
Can I start in a 1-2-1?
Yes absolutely! The Momentum instructor team offers private pole and aerial sessions, starting from £40/hr. To book a 1-2-1, please email us on hello@momentumpoleaerial.com.
Got ZERO experience and upper body strength. What now?
Actually, this is the perfect place to start. Because we require ZERO, and we really do mean it, ZERO, experience. We don’t teach pole and aerial because of upper body strength but in order to build it. We don’t teach pole and aerial because of existing experience, but to gain it!
If you fancy hearing us chat about that very first class, we have got a whole collection of “first ever class” episodes on our podcast. You can listen for free and we’ve put them all in one place for you here.
READY? Let’s do it!
